Out Now Commentary: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000)
This
month’s Out Now with Aaron and Abe commentary
track brings together martial arts and romance. Aaron is joined by Brandon Peters and Peter Paras to discuss Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, the
Oscar-winning Ang Lee film that brought wuxia into the mainstream
for America, and may, in fact, be a perfect film. Recorded weeks before
the world changed, in anticipation of the then-upcoming Mulan, the group
goes over why this film is so great, how it impacted the world, and the work of
Lee, Chow Yun Fat, Michelle Yeoh, and the various stars. There’s plenty
more discussion in regards to the filmmaking on display, and lots of fun
tangents as well. So now, if you’ve got an hour to kill…
