Atomic Blonde is the major new release of the week and it once again finds Charlize Theron in full action mode. Shame the movie isn't better. That said, at least I decided against seeing The Emoji Movie . Fairing better are a couple films from the indie scene - Brigsby Bear and Person to Person . This is all assuming you've already seen Valerian and Dunkirk of course, which should definitely be seen on the big screen. Meanwhile, at home, you can find some new release that I have reviews for. Get ready for this special bonus episode concerning San Diego Comic-Con 2017 . Memory is a funny thing. It can change the shape of a room or the sound of a podcast. This month’s commentary track features Aaron and Abe along with guests Jim Dietz and Brandon Peters to discuss Christopher Nolan’s Memento . War for the Planet of the Apes is one of the big ones for this summer, as two really good films have paved the way for this third chapter in the popular franchise. Fortunately, director Matt Reeves and Andy Serkis deliver the goods. Also great, The Big Sick , which opens wide this week. A strong romantic comedy worth checking out, as it's one of the year's best films. Lots of new home releases too, which I have reviews for, along with a really fun podcast episode for Spider-Man: Homecoming . And of course, a new review for this week's Preacher . Enjoy! Spider-Man: Homecoming is the major release of the week and everyone should rejoice in seeing a fun and refreshing take on the webhead. A Ghost Story also finds its way to a few theaters this weekend and is sure to mystify some and intrigue others. Go forth and find the other smaller films opening in more theaters this week too. Last week, news of the long-rumored  Top Gun sequel was given an actual release date. As of now, Tom Cruise is returning to the screen as Maverick on July 12, 2019. Cruise reteams with Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski for a follow-up to the biggest film of 1986 and, with inflation (and even without), one of the biggest films of Cruise's career. Currently titled Top Gun: Maverick , speculation is now out there concerning what a sequel to Top Gun  will actually bring to the table.  Well, that's what I've gone about putting together. Along with some speculation about why this movie is happening, enjoy the sample outline I've put together that brings together many possibly inevitable choices that could be made in making a Top Gun sequel. This isn't a "fan's choice," as I have little fondness for the original film. It's more thought on how a Hollywood studio would go about making this movie.
